Family Tree Project
When I was first told that we were doing a project on our family's history and heritage, I was excited. The first thing that I did was interview my mom and dad. Even though my parents had a lot of information on my family's history, they didn't have any pictures. So I sent an email to my grandfather asking for information and pictures. He responded to my email, and told me that he was sending me information in the mail. After a couple of days, I received the information and got lots of pictures. With all of the information I was able to gather, I made a family echo. I was able to make three other interesting projects with the information that I found on my family. You can see those below.

I think that this video had some very good points. One of these points was that we can spend hours together, but not really together. We only are together through technology devices. I liked how he had one situation where the guy wasn't using his phone, and he asked his future wife for directions, and it showed how happy their life ended up being. This really made you feel like you should put down your phone because you never know what will happen when you interact face-to-face with other people. I liked how he went back to the same situation where the two people met, and how it showed him on his phone and because he was on his phone he never had the interaction with the lady. I think that this video shows some of the truths that we try and hide from ourselves because you don't want it to be true. I also think that it is biased because it doesn't show all of the good things that could happen on social media. Overall, I like this video and pretty much agree with it.

I think that this teacher's blog post is encouraging and interesting. It is encouraging because you can see that teachers actually care about all their students as people, not just their grades. It is also encouraging because it shows that teachers all willing to do whatever it takes to help you not quit on school. It is interesting because it is written from a teacher's point of view. The "main event" is learning how to deal with what life throws at you without giving up or being negative about the situation. During high school, this means dealing with people tha annoy you and classes that push you to your breaking point.

Reflect on your stop motion animation project. How did it go? What worked? What didn't work? If you're not finished - why? If you are finished go in to detail about the project and what you learned. Give as much detail and information as possible.
I felt like my stop motion animation project was really good. I think it went very well because there were a lot of really good stop motion videos. What worked for me was being able to have a lot of freedom on what we were going to do and when we were going to do it. I think one thing that didn't work was letting people have so much freedom. I think the freedom was both something that didn't work and something that did because some people didn't use their time wisely, but a lot of people did use their time wisely. This has been my favorite project so far because I thought how my video turned out was really cool and I really liked it.

My idea for a stop motion animation is to draw an outdoor scene on a piece of paper. I'm going to slowly draw grass, draw a tree with a swing, the sun, flowers, and a girl swinging on a swing. I have not started taking photos yet, but I plan on starting today. My plan is to get most if not all of my pictures done today.

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.
Stop motion animation is where you make an inanimate object look like it is moving. You make it look like it is moving by taking a lot of pictures, but in each picture the object is slightly moved. In the end when you put all of the pictures are played continuously the inanimate object should look like it is moving.

Tell me about your 5 frame storyboard. What did you like about the project? What did you dislike? Was it hard to fit a story in to 5 images? Do you think you tell a clear story? What would you do differently if you could? Explain.
My 5 frame storyboard is about a boy shooting a basketball. It shows the steps he takes to make a basket. I enjoyed taking the pictures for my storyboard. I used my digital camera that has a sports action mode that continuously takes pictures while you are holding the button. It provided me with a variety of photos for my project. I disliked how long it took some of the websites to load my photos. It was inconvenient and slowed the editing process down. I didn't think it was hard to fit my story into 5 frames, but I feel like some stories would be hard to fit into 5 frames. I think my storyboard tells a clear story. I do not know what a storyboard is, but I think it has to do with photos and photo editing because that is what we are currently learning about. When I went on Google and searched for storyboards it said that they are a sequence of photos/illustrations that create a template for a motion picture or animation. You can make storyboards with just pictures, or with pictures and words if the pictures need to have captions.

We got our pictures taken yesterday. I thought that the scavenger hunt was fun, but some of the photos were hard to find something for. I think you had us take those types of pictures so we could learn to take different kinds of photos. I also think that we are going to do a project with them.

I know that photography is taking pictures. I also know that there are many different ways to create a photo. When I take pictures it is either with my cell phone or a digital camera. Usually it is my cell phone, but when it is a special occasion or when we are on vacation we use a digital camera.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!
For Spring Break I went to Washington D.C. with my family. On our first night in Washington D.C. it was very cold and windy. We went on a night monument tour and it was really cool. We stopped at the FDR Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the the Korean War Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.While we were being driven around Washington D.C. we saw a lot of other buildings and monuments that were really cool. Over the next couple of days we went on lots of tours and went to a lot of museums and Smithsonians. One of my favorite parts of the trip is when we went to Mount Vernon. It was so pretty. It was also really cool seeing George Washington's house and learning more about the history of his family and life. We also went to Georgetown and visited Georgetown University. Georgetown is really pretty with all of its townhouses and old buildings. The university was also really pretty. There were lots of old stone building surrounded by beautiful landscaping. On our last night in Washington D.C.it snowed 7 or 8 inches. The next day almost the entire city was shutdown because of the snow. It was really boring and so that is when we visited Georgetown University. Visiting Washington D.C. was lots of fun and a really coo experience.

On my infographic I only have to add the resources and I am finished. I think I will be finished by the end of the class today so I can embed it on my blog. I think I've used my time wisely in class because I have been able to complete my infographic in a timely manner.
Oh, and also Sarah hasn't used her time wisely because she doesn't focus on her task. She is always talking to Ruth, Tiffany, or me. She also had to use time outside of class to work on finishing her infographic on time, so this further proves that she hasn't been using her time wisely in class.

You have us brainstorm and collect information in a Google Doc before putting it into a final draft because then we have an idea of what we want to say and sources for information. If we just started writing a final draft and didn't have any sources for information or any idea what we wanted to say, then the final draft wouldn't be as good.

My global issue paper is about global warming. It talks about different causes of global warming, including greenhouse gas contributions. Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!
This weekend, instead of going to Sweetheart a couple of friends and I went bowling. I got one strike, but only ended up with a total score of 48. Then, on Sunday I watched the Superbowl. My brother was cheering for the Broncos, so he wasn't very happy when they lost. I knew from the first play when the center threw the ball over Peyton Manning's head that the Broncos weren't going to do so hot.

I look up to my swim coach. I look up to her because she works hard to make us better swimmers and better people. She has helped me become a better swimmer by pushing me hard even when I am tired. She also has helped me and my team become better people by reading stories about people who made a positive impact in others lives, and having us discuss how we could do this.

If you could pick one issue in the world to fix or change what would it be and why?
The issue that I would fix is animals habitats being cut down for expansion or materials for expansion. I would fix this because it isn't fair that we are taking away animals homes so we can expand our cities and nations. The animals, that are having their homes taken away haven't hurt us in any way, but we are killing them by taking away the area where they find food and live. I think that we need to think about all of the consequences before making a decision that will affect the things that live around us.

A Public Service Announcement is a video about a social issue change that needs to be made in order to better protect yourself and others. Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!
This weekend I had a swim meet on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday I swam in three events including the 50 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke, and 100 yard freestyle. I swam about my same time on all of my events. On Sunday I swam 3 events including the 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and the 1650 yard freestyle (that's a mile!). In my 200 free and 100 back I dropped time. I dropped 2 seconds in my 200 and .5 seconds in my 100. I swam the mile in 21 minutes and 43.96 seconds. On Monday, I just rested and did my homework. Overall, I had a good weekend.

What have you learned about Google Drive and Google Presentation so far? What do you like about it? What problems have you run in to? Is it better than PowerPoint?
I've learned that with Google Drive you can easily access different documents and presentations. With Google Presentation, I have learned that it's easy to put in links to pictures. I like how you can use Google Drive to access the presentation from different computers and you don't have to e-mail yourself any time you need to take a document home. I also like how it automatically saves. I haven't run into any problems so far. I think its better than PowerPoint because it automatically saves. I don't agree with this statement because they had to put effort into making the image or picture. They should be credited for their work. If they don't care whether or not they get credit then I don't think that you should have to credit them. The Internet is a place to share your ideas and work, so people should get credit for what they do.

Something that I want to learn this semester is how to be able to collaborate with other people on group projects. I also want to learn how to access one document from different computers without sending it as an attachment in an email every time.
